Sales outreach on LinkedIn can be tough. InMails often go unanswered, and standing out in a crowded inbox is becoming more difficult. That’s why my SDR team decided to experiment with LinkedIn voice notes—and the results were game-changing.
By replacing InMails with personalized voice messages, we saw our reply rate on LinkedIn increase by 7x. Here’s why it worked and how you can implement the same strategy.
The Power of LinkedIn Voice Notes
Voice notes add a personal touch that text-based messages lack. They allow prospects to hear your tone, making your outreach feel more human and authentic. Unlike a generic text message, a voice note creates an immediate sense of connection and stands out in a prospect’s inbox.
But sending voice notes effectively requires a structured approach. Below is the script our SDRs use to maximize engagement and response rates.
Our LinkedIn Voice Note Script
1. Introduce Yourself & Set Context
Start with a warm introduction and explain why you’re reaching out. Keep it friendly and natural.
“Hi {prospect name}, it’s Dave—great to connect with you!”
“I was just reaching out as I was taking a look at {prospect company} and noticed you were in discussions with us previously.”
2. Highlight the Value You Bring
Briefly remind them how your solution can help. This keeps the conversation focused on their needs.
“Just as a reminder, we help you connect with your key prospects.”
3. Close with a Soft Call-to-Action
Rather than pushing for a meeting immediately, ask for their input. This keeps the conversation open-ended and encourages engagement.
“Just wanted to have a quick chat to see if anything has changed since our last discussion.”
“Um also {laugh} as I am sure you can probably tell, but I have just started using these voice notes, so any feedback on what I am doing here is much appreciated.”
“Thank you, {prospect name}.”
Why This Works
The key to the script’s success lies in the final section:
✅ The Laugh Softens the Close – Adding a lighthearted moment makes the CTA feel less like a sales pitch and more like a natural conversation. Prospects appreciate the authenticity and are more likely to respond.
✅ Asking for Feedback Engages the Prospect – People naturally want to help others. By inviting feedback on your voice note, you turn the conversation into a two-way interaction rather than just another sales message.
Try It Yourself
If you’re struggling to get responses on LinkedIn, give voice notes a try. They break through the noise, add a personal touch, and foster real conversations.
